= no more room for the ethical one?

When E! reported "...trouble on the set of Boston Legal--including rumors of a sudden firing of one of the cast members..." mid-September, the rumor was Lori Colson. With her featured case work each week, she seems spared. Brad, however, is another story. No recent images at ABCmedianet and no publicity appearances for Mark. Brad Chase was completely absent this week, barely there in the previous weeks. Alan - what have you done to him? Tara? Lori? Is he on two week reserve duty? Perhaps we were territorial about that sort of thing around here.
Is Alan showing Brad the door? Why are Brad's scenes not making the cut?

Is Alan escorting Brad off the property? Did this push-up contest have more at stake than pride? Many questions, no answers. If anyone knows anything, or just wants to be encouraging, Brad will be appreciative.

[technically, this could be construed as an ooc moment, but it pains Brad no end to venture in the realm of out or that he isn't viewed as real, that he won't cop to the expression]

ooc
Yeah if any of that turns out to be true, they've lost their minds. I think that Shore's character will suffer without Brad as the sturdy counterpart. The play off one another is what makes both of them more interesting. Now don't get me wrong. I really like seeing Shore, but I feel as though I'm watching the Alan Shore show sometimes as opposed to Boston Legal. Damn.

I will cry many moonz if they fired Brad.
Brad Chase: point[info]brad_chase on November 8th, 2004 12:27 am (UTC)
You're a bright girl. I knew I there was a reason I liked you. Thank you. Lewiston pretended he was ethical with Lori, but we know how deep his ethics go. Tara is sliding down that slippery slope a bit. [no reflection on our Tara] Who now will put the finger in the dike, to use a dubious expression.
Victoria Gray: deeply shallow[info]victoria_gray on November 8th, 2004 12:46 am (UTC)
*laughs* Yeah, seriously. We need a voice of reason. Denny? Um no. Lewiston? I think not. Definitely not Shore. No one else really fits into that roll. (The women never speak up.) Brad! The only one who can be good looking and witty, while still remaining considerate of peoples feelings and treating the law with respect.. Maybe he's a little stiff.. but that's why they need to write him in more. Brad's surely deeper than they would be making him out to be by axing him.

*sigh* I'm already mad at Kelley with this whole "lets get everyone excited and then show them a just before or just after sex scenes." Ok. I need less innuendo and more asses in the air. This isn't primetime, it's late. Kid's are sleeping. [/rant] haha

So tell me Brad. Were you having a hard time figuring out why you liked me before? You sound puzzled when you say it like that.
Brad Chase: bigsmile[info]brad_chase on November 8th, 2004 01:14 am (UTC)
And Brad being stiff is bad... how?

Brad may be those nice things you mentioned, but not abnormally so. It's just the glare of contrasts. It seems they drew him paper thin and Boston's wind just sort of blew him away, perhaps back to D.C. Hope I'm just jumping the gun. Certainly hope I'm not jumping the shark. But Brad has a substantial back story, at least here.

And this is to you, Scott Kaufer. You wrote this one. Did the absence of Brad have anything to do with how long we're taking on the Kaufer Prenup? Because this can either work for you or against you.
*knowing smirk*

I left my reasons for liking you, Victoria, unexpressed, buried deep in subtext. My girlfriend may not approve.
Victoria Gray[info]victoria_gray on November 8th, 2004 01:24 am (UTC)
It's too late and I'm in far too silly a mood to respond to that first one. *laughs*

Well.. okay, as long as your girlfriend wouldn't approve I guess you can be forgiven. *grin*
Alan Shore[info]alan_shore on November 8th, 2004 04:29 am (UTC)
From discussion of Brad's "stiffness" to fingers in dikes...I feel as though all meaningful contributions have been made.

ooc: Mun has drawn comparisons between BL and Scrubs--this would make Alan Perry. Perry, while wonderful, can't carry a show on his own. We need a JD.
Brad Chase: huh2[info]brad_chase on November 8th, 2004 04:41 am (UTC)
Somehow, those words just sounded better coming from Victoria.

ooc-if-we-must: Brad may be Michael Bluth [yes, I'm no longer an AR virgin after tonight], but he hasn't attained the JD level yet. Point taken, however. Surreal hospital and/or law firm crammed full of unpredictable staffers and/or associates. On a personal note, good to have you back.

OOC
STOP THE PANIC!

Look where you got the report from! E! (especially little miss Kristen) is about as reliable as my old car use to be.

They've reported Crossing Jordan canceled three times that I've seen. Oh, and killed off two of the main characters. A pair of the execs on the show, came out and said basically what I'm saying here, but not it such G-rated words, that you can't believe everything you read on the gossip pages. (We are lucky in the CJ world to have the creator and one of the exec producers in one of our chat groups.)

This time of the year the networks play this little game of hype to boast ratings. I bet what has happened is Mark is not in an episode or two....which in an ensemble show like that is not a very bad thing. Maybe he's out filming a Movie of the WeeK. Don't worry about anything until ABC comes out and says something official.
Brad Chase: smug[info]brad_chase on November 8th, 2004 03:48 pm (UTC)
Thanks, Detective. Threat level down to Orange now. Damn the publicity hounds. Wreak havoc with a guy's equilibrium and career for the sake of stirring up drama. Appreciate your sharing. Guess you've been there. And you're still here.

Nothing wrong with getting paid to watch TV and eat craft services in your trailer, anyway.
__tarawilson: just Tara[info]__tarawilson on November 8th, 2004 08:58 am (UTC)
I know you don't like ooc so much, so... Brad, perhaps you went on strike due to the election outcome? Scouting out places to re-locate to in Canada? *smile*

My cousin has emailed her source at ABC. She'll see what she can find out. No worries... yet.
Brad Chase: brad / tara[info]brad_chase on November 8th, 2004 03:55 pm (UTC)
*steeping some Earl Grey in her honor*
That's exactly what I'm doing. Victoria is grand this time of year. And plenty of flu vaccine. Thanks for looking out for me and keep us all appraised as to your sources.
Joel Campbell[info]joel_campbell on November 8th, 2004 10:08 am (UTC)
OOC: Lord only hopes not. I will not have this be the second time I go through Mark Valley withdrawal. And no offense to Monica Potter, but there is no comparison between her and Mark.

You'd better stick around, Brad. Don't tell me it's gonna fall to me to try to balance out Shore.
Brad Chase: really[info]brad_chase on November 8th, 2004 03:52 pm (UTC)
Joel, buddy. It's been too long. We should get together. The Celtics are doing terrible so far. There's much in Boston to gripe about. I predict a month into the basketball season, we'll have you drinking again. And if you do inherit Shore wrangling, you'll need a crutch to fall back on.
Joel Campbell[info]joel_campbell on November 8th, 2004 05:16 pm (UTC)
I knew there was a reason I've never liked basketball.

We should. If only because I now have things worth talking about.
Brad Chase: really[info]brad_chase on November 8th, 2004 05:30 pm (UTC)
You can't not like basketball. That's not computing.

Really? Do we have a serial killer in Boston I should be aware of?
Joel Campbell[info]joel_campbell on November 8th, 2004 05:56 pm (UTC)
Yes, I can. If only because I'm not good at it.

No serial killers ... just that I'm dating your administrative assistant.
Brad Chase: huh2[info]brad_chase on November 8th, 2004 10:37 pm (UTC)

Carolina Jacks Stokes: hands over heart[info]carolina_stokes on November 10th, 2004 09:26 pm (UTC)
I must be taking too much migraine medication.

Brad is channeling God, Joel is dating Decca, Alan is....well, Alan is being Alan.

Or did I get that wrong? Is Joel making Decca scream "Oh, God", Alan is dating Brad and God is at ABC under the name of Eisner?

Too confusing, must lie down.
Brad Chase: goodgrief[info]brad_chase on November 14th, 2004 03:12 am (UTC)
Welcome to Lifestyles of the Dazed and Confused. Your characterizations are amusing, but Alan's already in a committed relationship with a guy named Shore.

It's nice to see you again, Carolina.
Carolina Jacks Stokes[info]carolina_stokes on November 14th, 2004 06:49 am (UTC)
Nice to see you, too.

Yes, well, there will never be another great love story like the one of Alan and himself.

[info]sara_montes on November 14th, 2004 11:47 am (UTC)
Mr. Chase.

*Sara is standing in his doorway, since his assistant seems to be out.*

May I have a moment? I am Sara Montes, from the Montes Law Group.
Brad Chase: suitglance[info]brad_chase on November 14th, 2004 11:54 am (UTC)
*I stand and walk over to her, extending my hand*

Ms. Montes - certainly. Please have a seat. What may I do for you?

*We both take our places and I lean forward a bit as she crosses her legs*
[info]sara_montes on November 14th, 2004 02:14 pm (UTC)
I was curious as to exactly when Mr. Crane agreed to allow his associates to volunteer at the Women's Shelter. He was quite adamant in his refusal previously. So, when I found out Mr. Shore had volunteered pro bono for a resident, I was pleasantly stunned.

*Sara speaks quietly, but her accent shows through.*
Brad Chase: suitglance[info]brad_chase on November 14th, 2004 02:28 pm (UTC)
*nods reflectively, but doesn't respond right away, relishing the possibility that Shore apparently visited the other side of the line*

*finally, and a bit under my breath* A reaction we share. *to Ms. Montes* We do allow our associates some latitude on non-billable hours - an allotment, if you will. Some use them fully each month to give back to society.

*there's always a first time for selflessness*

Is there something I can do for you - because, if it's in regard to Mr. Shore, you'll find him in his office.
[info]sara_montes on November 14th, 2004 02:34 pm (UTC)
Well, to be honest, I had heard that there were very pleasant changes in this firm. It is rumored that it has become more civic minded, and I wanted to applaud that. I also hear that is partially due to your influence and leadership.

*Sara stood, and shook his hand.*

Our profession needs to recognize its duty to the community at large, and I want to thank your staff. This is now two of your associates to help us out.

I appreciate your time.
